ROBOTICS LAB OPENS

FORRESTAL CAMPUS
AT PRINCETON FORRESTAL CENTER

March 2018

Testing of unmanned aerial vehicles and other robots has commenced at the Intelligent Robot Motion Laboratory (aka IRoM-Lab.) This most recent addition to the R&D facilities at the Princeton Forrestal Center is managed and operated by a research group in the Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering (MAE) department at Princeton University. Their focus is developing solutions to controlling highly agile robotic systems such as unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), legged robots, and robotic manipulators in a way that allows guarantees on the robotic safety and performance when operating in complex and uncertain environments. As the primary testing facility, this lab required a 1-year specialized design fit-out including a unique motion capture arena with sixteen Vicon V16 cameras, customized zoned HVAC, specialized zoned lighting and enhanced laboratory-darkening capabilities.
